For years, the name Symantec has been synonymous with two areas; anti-virus software and enterprise backup systems.

However, we're looking towards Veeam for our virtual environment, it doesn't do to-tapes...

outside of something like Bacula and Amanda (my first choices) what would you recommend to push that data to tape?

In 1990, Symantec purchased Norton and with it still holds the title as best-selling anti-virus software in the world, although it has long since lost its claim as the best product on the market.

Though Symantec has lost its footing on the security side of its business, they have been able to cling on in the enterprise backup scene; at least for the time being.

) Financial reasons, we poured thousands into Backup Exec (I walked into this mess).

I've actually ran with the above setup, with my biggest problem being the media server not doing multiple backup to disks in parallel (and various other critical stability issues such as the server starting two processes and causing the media library to go offline), with policies it isn't really bad at all outside BE being stupidly unstable.

Tried to restore from my local file and it was giving me the same error and since I cant get my database back online I cant run the restore from tape.It occurred during a read of page (4) in database ID 12 at offset 0x0000000074c000 in file ' E: Somefolder Somedatabase.mdf'.Additional messages in the SQL Server error log or system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately.Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB).
